Asphalt Driveway Calculator
Estimate exactly how much bituminous concrete (BC) or DBM your driveway needs. Metric defaults and MoRTH-aligned thickness recommendations. Returns tonnage and INR-referenced material cost.
How to Use the Driveway Calculator
Measure the length and width of your driveway. Recommended thicknesses:
- 40 mm Bituminous Concrete — standard residential driveway.
- 50 mm Bituminous Concrete — heavier vehicles or hot climate areas.
- 75 mm DBM/Base + 40 mm wearing — regular truck traffic.
If your driveway is L-shaped or curved, divide it into rectangles, calculate each separately, and add the tonnages.
Driveway Tonnage — Quick Reference
| Driveway Size | 40 mm | 50 mm | 75 mm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 m² | ~4.6 t | ~5.8 t | ~8.7 t |
| 100 m² | ~9.3 t | ~11.6 t | ~17.4 t |
| 200 m² | ~18.6 t | ~23.2 t | ~34.8 t |
Always add 10% for waste and compaction.
Choosing the Right Thickness
Driveway thickness is a balance between cost and durability. Cutting corners on the base course is a more common failure mode than insufficient asphalt thickness.
